A Flock OF Seagulls February 20 1993 Minneapolis

Image
(probably NOT the lineup that I saw, but the "band" were disposable and interchangeable)   Here's how I remember it... A small ad appeared in the local weekly rag (City Pages) saying A Flock Of Seagulls were booked to play some bar I'd never heard of called "Mississippi Live" at Riverplace/Saint Anthony Main (I can't remember which, they were 2 buildings adjacent to each other and everyone always got them mixed up). The building was on the bank of the Mississippi River, hence the name of the bar. This was 1993, and even 10 years after the fact AFOS couldn't have sunk so low as to be playing a yuppie bar in a failing shopping complex... AFOS was my first girlfriend's favorite band at the time, she liked them even more than the heartthrobs du'jour Duran Duran, and I was a big fan as well, but this was 10 years and 2 girlfriends later. AFOS couldn't have been more than an afterthought in most people's minds and so them playing a crap up

Big Country in a Small Club

Big Country played First Ave in 1993. I remember going, I remember recording it, but I don't remember anything about the show. My friend and Big Country obsessive Tim Fool said that I somehow missed the encore, so this show is not complete. Apologies for that. For what it's worth, here's the recording for your dining and dancing entertainment. All Go Together We're Not in Kansas Look Away What Are You Working For Chester's Farm Wonderland Pink Marshmallow Moon Ships Long Way Home Alone The One I Love In a Big Country Chance (this is where my recording ends)  Lost Patrol (Don't Fear) The Reaper ( Blue Öyster Cult  cover) Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)

The Cure - Minneapolis "Wish" Tour 1992

I used to REALLY hate The Cure. Let's Go To Bed et al (except I liked Love Cats for some reason), all that whiny happy poppy crap... Then I bought my then-girlfriend the picture disc of Disintegration for her birthday. And I actually liked some songs on it. A few years later The Cure were booked to play Target Center, and she got us tickets. And to be honest I didn't hate it! The Cranes opened and I remember being excited to see them as well as The Cure. Anyway, not my recording but I was happily surprised to stumble across this.     Open Play Video High Play Video Pictures of You Play Video Lullaby Play Video Just Like Heaven Play Video Fascination Street Play Video A Night Like This Play Video Apart Play Video Doing the Unstuck Play Video The Walk Play Video Let's Go to Bed Play Video Friday I'm in Love Play Video In Between Days Play Video From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea Play Video Never Enough Play Video Cut Play Video End Play Video Encore: Lovesong Play Vide
